This fellowship is designed to give college students from underrepresented groups high-level professional experience in business, non-profit management, and government by working at various institutions within the
Central to the success of the program is the establishment and maintenance of a healthy working relationship with the area’s business, non-profit, and governmental communities. In addition to providing jobs for students, worksite supervisors will be required to serve as mentors for fellows and to allot at least one hour per week for one-on-one interactions. Supervisors will also be required to invite fellows to select meetings in order to get a strong grasp of how their specific worksite functions within the larger picture of problem solving within the area.
In addition to their work experience and mentor relationship, fellows will participate in weekly group meetings involving key decision makers from the business, non-profit, and governmental sectors. While serving as a point of structured interaction where students are free to ask probing questions of influential individuals, these meetings will also allow fellows to witness a variety of leadership styles.
