CIVIC ENGAGEMENT

BLU Educational Foundation understands that long lasting change does not take place until modifications are made to current policies in hopes that they will better serve the people within our community. Through our efforts and the efforts of our partners, it is our hope that our work will propel community members along with state and local elected officials to advocate for access.

BLU focuses our civic engagement work around voter engagement, public lands, and advocacy for issues of importance to and legislation surrounding policies that impact the communities we serve.

VOTER ENGAGEMENT

BLU realizes the importance that voting has regarding every aspect of the way we live. Which is why it essential that we let our voices be heard so that we can help push policies and candidates that represent and benefit the needs of the African American community.

One way BLU engages in this work is through our partnership with the California Black Power Network.

CENSUS

BLU Educational Foundation has partnered with My Black Counts to ensure that African Americans are accurately counted and represented in the state of California.

Census data helps us build political power and provides access to quality health care, better transportation, better schools, affordable housing, and the college funds we need to thrive.

PUBLIC LANDS

In the summer of 2019 BLU Educational Foundation launched the Let's Take it Outside project in an effort to bring awareness and advocacy to the preservation and restoration of public lands.

The campaign seeks to engage constituencies in and near the Inland Empire to help build awareness, identify barriers, and to advocate for key issues when it comes to public lands.
