CURRENT POLICY PRIORITIES
College Affordability & Financial Aid
Financial barriers are one of the biggest obstacles preventing students from accessing, persisting in, and completing higher education. Advancing policies that expand financial aid, reduce college costs, and increasing support services are essential in making college more affordable for all.

Educational Justice
All students deserve access to quality schools and education. Whether that be adequate school funding, supportive learning environments, culturally relevant pedagogy, or highly qualified teachers, BLU supports policies that make education more just for all.

Civic Engagement
BLU advocates for legislative priorities related to education, voter engagement, safety, housing, healthcare, climate, and reparations in an effort to build healthy, productive communities. In addition, BLU engages and educates the community around these issues.

Public Lands
Access to safe, healthy, and culutrally relevant outdoor space is deeply connected to educational justice, community well-being, and youth development. Policies related to the preservation and restoration of culturally significant public lands are central to BLU's Let's Take it Outside Initiative.
