STEWARDING PUBLIC LANDS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE

At BLU Educational Foundation, we recognize that public lands are more than just scenic spaces—they are vital resources that should be accessible, protected, and equitably managed for all communities. As we celebrate Earth Day, we reaffirm our commitment to environmental justice by ensuring that historically marginalized communities have a voice in land conservation and policy.

Through our Let's Take it Outside initiative, we seek to bring awareness and advocacy to the preservation and restoration of public lands.

LET'S TAKE IT OUTSIDE INITIATIVE FOCUS:

History

To learn about the historical significance/connection Public Lands have to Black history as well as any contribution landmarks have had in the cultivation of the Inland Empire.

Health

To build awareness through educating the community on the benefits of being outside and the overall impact it has on Black health.

Education

By exposing people to outdoor activities it is our hope that not only will they gain the basic knowledge of wilderness and wildlife practices but, also learn ways in which they can advocate for access and protection of public lands, while also expressing the importance of preservation and restoration of these spaces.

Historically, communities of color have been disproportionately impacted by environmental degradation and excluded from decision-making processes that shape public lands. We are working to change that narrative—creating pathways for Black leadership in conservation and ensuring that public lands reflect the needs and histories of all people.

This Earth Day, we invite you to join us in championing environmental justice. Whether by advocating for inclusive policies, participating in local conservation efforts, or simply spending time in nature, every action contributes to a more just and sustainable future.
