We’re committed to helping young people discover and prepare for their future careers. Through resources like our career pathways programs, dual enrollment opportunities, and internships, students can gain the knowledge, experience, and connections they need to succeed. All of our career programs use the BLU Purposeful Pathways framework focused on Arts, Business, Education, Environmentalism, Health, STEM, & Social Justice careers.
Career Pathways Programs
BLU's career pathways programs were crafted to enhance career pathways for high school and college students through policy and programming. This initiative specifically seeks to increase representation of Black, Latino, Indigenous, and Pacific Islander communities in thriving and sustainable career industries.
BLU offers two distinct Career Pathways programs, each designed to help students
explore careers, build skills, and gain real-world experience in different ways:
The Black Educator Pipeline is a pathway program designed to recruit, prepare, and support, African-American/Black students in their journey to become a Black educator.
The Uzima Health Scholars (formerly the College Exodus to Health Professions) is a year-long program designed to encourage and guide Black students, emphasizing the important aspects of their journey in becoming a health professional
Dual Enrollment
At BLU we understand that dual enrollment opportunities are a way for students to save both time and money on their education. These opportunities help students experience the expectations of college-level coursework while getting a headstart on their career or academic goals.
BLU has put together dual enrollment catalogues to help students find UC/CSU transferable coursework in the Purposeful Pathways Framework
Internships
BLU offers two paid internship programs: The BLU Summer Internship & the JustSB Purposeful Pathways Internship
The BLU Summer Internship offers students the opportunity to intern here at BLU, completing a project in College & Career Access, Film, Media, & Entertainment, Black History Camp, or Public Policy & Advocacy
The JustSB Summer Internship offers students an opportunity to be placed at an internship with one of JustSB's partner organizations. All internships in this program are in one of the seven purposeful pathways. Read more about this internship in this blog post: INTRODUCING THE JUSTSB PURPOSEFUL PATHWAYS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
We know that talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. These career programs are BLU's way to provide more opportunity to students here in the Inland Empire.
